Initially stocky cushions, extended and flat with its outward-reaching shoots, hanging over the top of walls
Blossom
Small, yellow in dense umbels, surrounded by citrus-yellow bracts, long flowering time, April to May
Leaves
Semi-evergreen to evergreen, triangular, initially blue-green, becoming pale greyish green in time, arranged in spirals (“cylindrical”) around the thick, fleshy shoots which become bald from the bottom
Demands
Sun, tolerates heat, needs warmth, moderately frost hardy
Soil
Dry to fresh; sensitive to winter dampness; well-drained, likes chalk, sandy-gravelly or gravel, gravely loam, rots on heavy soil
Tip
Radically shorten bald shoots after flowering down to the terminal buds for the plant to keep its dense cushions.
