Habit:
A splendid large tree, broadly round crown, 20-25 (40) m tall, 12-15 (20) m wide; main branches reaching upwards, twigs arching upwards
to horizontal, slightly drooping in the lower crown region; initially fast-growing, 80-130 cm, later 40 cm a year.
Flouwers:
Greenish flowers racemes after leaves shoot, May.
Fruits:
Inconspicuous fruits.
Leaves:
Five-lobed, shoots aroand two weeks later than A. platanoides, mid-May; dull, dark green, bright yellow in October.
Roots:
Deep roots, easy to transplant and grows well; sensitive to soil compaction; tolerates being covered with a loose substrate.
Demands:
Sonne bis lichter Schatten, für kühl- oder kaltfeuchte Lagen, frosthart; empfindlich gegen Hitze, Luft- und Bodentrockenheit; windresistent.
Soil:
Sun to light shade, for cool or cold and humid areas, frost hardy; sensitive to heat and drought; wind resistant.
Note:
Fresh to moist; on all substrates except poor sand, heavy loam or clay.
