Ilex - Holly
A genus with 300 species of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and small trees spread over large sections. Their tolerance of shade, their pretty leaves and attractive fruit make both the species and countless varieties very popular for landscaping.
Note:
The Ilex species are dioecious; in the interest of safe fruiting, male and female varieties must be planted together. Except those varieties that are exceptionally monoecious or form hermaphrodite flowers.
