Characteristics:
Habit
Twiner/climber, 6-15 m tall, 2-10 m wide, reaching out 1.5-2 m; support diameter 2-10 cm, strangulating itself if support is too thin, or destroying weak supports; very fast-growing, 150-400 cm a year
Blossom
Before or while leaves shoot, in blue-violet racemes, mid-May to June; from the fifth year on, plentiful flowers, pleasantly fragrant
Leaves
Pinnate, up to 30 cm; leaflets elongated, medium green, pale autumn colours
Fruits
Green husks, persistent, poisonous

far-reaching, sensitive
Demands
Sun; tolerates heat, likes warmth, moderately frost hardy to sensitive; good for urban areas, tolerant of wind

Fresh to damp, not dried out, acidic to neutral; sandy-loamy, very nutritious soil
