Medium-sized tree, 15-18 (25) m tall, 4-6 m wide; initially slenderly conical, gradually wider, very symmetrical; branches extended in layers to ascending, loose; slow-growing, 20-35 (40) cm a year; splendid conifer

Prefer shade when young, later sun or light shade; cool, humid, sensitive to heat, usually frost hardy, but sensitive to snow pressure
