Habit
Petiole climber/trellis climber, 4-6 m, rarely up to 8 m tall if not cut, conspicuously "top-heavy", i.e. the flowers and leaf masses are always in the upper half; overall dense and mat-like, occasionally loosely overhanging shoots
Blossom
White, end of September to October, plentiful with pungent smell of hawthorn; cut at end of February to beginning of March 50 cm above ground or take back long shoots to further flower production

In clusters of 3 to 7, dark green, ovoid pinnate leaflets; leaves often staying green into December

Demands
Sun to light shade, tolerates heat, likes warmth, south-facing walls are favourable for late flowers; moderately frost hardy, sensitive to early frost

Moderately dry to moist; slightly acidic to alkaline, in all well drained substrates, not growing much on heavy soil.
