Habit
Shrub or small tree, some 5-8 m tall and 4-5 m wide; somewhat taller when old and wider than the Japanese variety, moderately growing
Blossom
Notable bracts, bright white or soft pink, larger than the species and broadly pointed, flowering into June, roughly a week after the normal variety
Leaves
Splendid scarlet autumn colour, two weeks later than the normal variety, mid to end of October
Note
When all four flowering types are planted in a group, the flowers last from May to July
