Habit

Small shrub that grows horizontally, 1.2-1.5 m tall, 2-3 m wide; shoots in layers, twigs arranged like fish bones and spread out like a fan; slow-growing; especially attractive in hoarfrost

Covered with cup-shaped flowers, pink-white, May to June

Leaves

Early shoots, circular, shiny green, flame-red from October on, very persistent

Scarlet, in masses; from September

Takes very well to cutting, can be trained for trellises
