Bell-shaped or bulging, up to 1 cm long, in many variations from light crimson to pink in loose, upright racemes; June to October; conspicuously many flowers, persistent

Flat with fine roots living symbiotically with fungi, sensitive to soil compaction

Sun to light shade, sensitive to heat, but likes warmth, not very frost hardy, for protected, cool, humid areas; protect from winter sun and winter winds from the east
