Characteristics:
Habit
Large shrub, 2-4 (7) m tall, 2-3 m wide; various shoots, bushy upright, fast-growing
Blossom
Creamy white, always seven small single flowers on a head, in terminal panicles, elongated slender petals, white stamen, fragrant, August to November (first flowers in June)
Leaves
Deciduous, elongated, oval, oppositely arranged, prominently 3-veined, dark green above, bright green beneath, early shoots; persistent in autumn, attractive
Fruits
Berries, 1 cm long, purple red to bright pink, fruits are surrounded by bright pink petals, very decorative, usually only in appropriate climates
Demands
Sun, hardy, moderate, tolerates dry periods in summer, resistant to urban climates, likes warmth
Soil
Adaptable, fresh to moderately dry, nutritious substrates
