Our Amelanchier

Most of the shadbush Amelanchier types originate from North America and were already cultivated before the 18th century. In the 20th century they were brought to Europe. Attractive shrubs quickly found they way to gardens and parks. At the beginning of the 19th century, serviceberries began to be cultivated for fruit growing. This allowed the foreign shrubs to quickly establish themselves here, partly overgrow, and cross with the native Amelanchier ovalis.
