Fagus - Beeches
Fagaceae
Our Fagus
Everybody knows them - the large beech trees in forests and parks. Straight and tall trunks with smooth bark makes them unmistakable. At optimal locations beech can grow up to 40 meters and its crown circumference can be of up to 30 meters.
Beeches can also be planted in small gardens and grow there well, too. In this case, simply hedge plants are used. Beech does not shed leaves in autumn. They remain till spring and act as a natural privacy shield.
