Habit

An attractive small shrub, 1.2-1.5 m tall and wide, occasionally up to 2 m; loosely bushy, upright, slow-growing

Blossom

Individual, light pink to white, when leaves shoot or afterwards, end of April/beginning of May, fragrant

Leaves

Lanceolate to elliptical, from April dark red shoots, later coppery brown to dark crimson; keep their red colour, do not turn green

Fruits

Black-red stone fruits, from September, edible

Demands

Only full sun, likes warmth, frost hardy, tolerant of urban pollution, protect from wind

Moderately dry to moist; slightly acidic to alkaline, in all well drained substrates, not growing much on heavy soil, overall very robust and not demanding
