Habit

Large tree, 20-35 (40) m tall and 15-20 m wide, with domed or round crown; straight leader; branches ascending; twigs slightly upright to horizontal, slightly overhanging; the first years ascending, then medium to strong-growing, some 30-40 cm a year

Elongatedly ovoid, long stems, 5-10 cm long, symmetrically lobed; earlier shoots than Q. robur; yellow-brown in autumn, foliage partially persistent through winter

Sun to light shade, tolerates heat, likes warmth; frost hardy, but somewhat sensitive to late frost; not demanding, resistant; good for urban areas, moderately wind resistant
