Quercus pontica

Quercus pontica ist ein langsam wachsender Baum, der entweder als breitrunder Großstrauch oder mehrstämmiger, dicktriebiger Kleinbaum wächst und eine Höhe von 6 Metern sowie eine Breite von 4 Metern erreicht. Im Alter wird die Pflanze angedeutet schirmförmig und ihr Aufbau ist licht mit starr aufrechten Ästen und schrägen Zweigen. Quercus pontica bevorzugt sonnige Standorte und ist hitzeresistent, mäßig frosthart, stadtklimaresistent und windfest. Die Blütezeit beginnt im späten Mai mit grüngelben Kätzchen, während die mittelgrünen, verkehrt-eiförmigen Blätter eine beeindruckende goldgelbe Herbstfärbung Ende Oktober aufweisen. Der Baum ist in Zone 6a winterhart und gedeiht am besten auf durchlässigen, alkalischen und nährstoffreichen Lehmböden, wobei nasse Böden vermieden werden sollten, da diese zu einer erhöhten Frostgefährdung führen können.
