Broadly upright shrub, 2-3 m tall and wide; often with several stems and arching upright, sometimes thicket-like; rarely a crooked small tree with rounded crown, then to 5 m tall; fast-growing, initially 0.8-1.2 m a year, later 0.2-0.4 m
