Decorative small shrub, 0.6-1.2 m tall; up to 1 m wide; broadly upright and extended, slow-growing

In upright, silvery, woolly, yellow catkins, before or while leaves shoot, March to April, slightly fragrant

Elliptical to almost round, with spectacular, woolly, silvery white leaf hairs, in summer grey-green on top; pale yellow autumn colours

Fresh to damp, acidic to slightly alkaline; only on heavy soil, withering on light substrates.

Tip
In order to keep the attractive foliage, the extended shoots should be cut off to encourage the plant to produce more dense, luxurious foliage. Do not cut too far down; leave some 10-20 cm of shoot at the base.
