Bowl-shaped, bright yellow, in meter-long, branched, upright racemes, buds silvery white; June to August, long flowering time, dying after flowering, but also many self-soam seedlings

Large rosette leaves up to 30 cm long, silvery felty when shooting, more grey-green in summer

Dry to fresh, sensitive to winter dampness, well-drained, moderately nutritious, sandy-gravely or sandy-loamy
