Characteristics:
Habit
Shrub, 2-3 m tall and wide, loosely upright, extended and few twigs, asymmetrical, with arching twigs when old
Blossom
One of the most beautiful displays of winter and early spring flowers, in clustered panicles, buds carmine-pink, light pink when opening, to nearly white, appearing two-tone; flowering period depends on the weather with interruptions from November to the beginning of April, the flowers tolerating slight minus degree, but freezing when open at low temperatures, therefore select protected areas; strong scent of vanilla
Leaves
Elliptical, wrinkled surface fresh green, autumn colours dark red, bronze to dark violet; partially with the first flowers - a notable contrast between light and dark
Demands
Sun to shady, tolerates heat, needs warmth, usually frost hardy, but the early flowers are sensitive to early and late frost

Moderately dry to moist; acidic to alkaline; any nutritious garden soil
