Habit
Stiffly upright and densely bushy shrub, 2-3 m tall, 2 m wide; produces plentiful shoots, bent over long twigs, taking root on contact with the ground, thus thicket-like; slow-growing
Blossom
Numerous small, terminal panicles, pink-white; flowers from November, interrupted by cold spells, then February to April; sensitive to late frost; pleasant scent of vanilla; flowers partially with autumn colours or before leaves shoot

Small, elliptical, medium green; in November brick-red or crimson
Demands
Sun; tolerates heat, likes warmth; frost hardy, but due to the extraordinary flowering period protected areas are recommended; good for urban areas

Tips
Cut off old shoots regularly after flowering. This plant has been recently neglected for hedging; and yet, its conspicuous, fragrant flowers make it a splendid plant for hedges
