Parking Lot
Climate trees - the best for the parking Lot
Our native trees in particular have difficulty adapting to the climate in the city. At the COREUM climate tree parking lot you will find pioneering city trees that can cope well with drought and heat waves. But in a parking lot, trees must also have other special properties, including resistance to heat radiation, compaction and air pollutants.
Trees are particularly suitable for green parking spaces. They purify the surrounding air and, as shade providers, they cool the ground and protect people from extreme temperatures due to radiated heat. You also bring a piece of nature to the bare areas.
At the same time, they give the room structure and integrate the area into the surroundings Deciduous trees such as plane trees and imperial linden trees in particular provide a lot of shade in midsummer. Field maple, ginkgo, black oak and Dutch elm are also well-suited tree species for parking lots.
Hedges as structuring elements: Hedges also divide areas and create spaces. In addition, their impact on the climate has been confirmed - they minimize the radiated heat from sealed, asphalted surfaces and also filter pollutants.
In comparison to trees, whose crowns are allowed to extend over the parking spaces, hedges break up the parking area and create privacy and demarcation from adjacent usable areas, such as residential areas or leisure facilities. For example, evergreen yew hedges (Taxus baccata) are planted in this parking lot.

Proper Plant Selection for Parking Lots
In order for tree planting in the “extreme parking lot location” to work, the right trees should be selected during planning; especially with regard to species and varieties. This is particularly about the ability to function under heat radiation and compression. The size of the trees also plays a big role and there are already larger trees with a trunk circumference of approx. 35-40-45cm in the Klimbaum parking lot.
