Upright large shrub, 3-5 m tall; 2-4 m wide; few twigs, slow-growing
Blossom
Flowers in 5-10 cm long panicles, cream-white, after leaves shoot end of May
Leaves
Usually in fives, pinnate, fresh green; lanceolate, ovoid; autumn colours pale yellow from September
Fruits
In inflated, green-white capsules with hard, nut-like brown seeds
Demands
Sun to semi-shade, tolerates heat, likes warmth, frost hardy; soil fresh to moist, slightly acidic to alkaline, any nutritious garden soil
