Habit
Large shrub to small tree, 3-6 (8) m tall; 5-8 m wide, initially roundish, later broad and open; dense branches, delicate twigs, some of them nearly horizontal. Â

Very conspicuous, white, bell-shaped, waxy racemes hanging from axils, June to July, fragrant
Leaves
Deciduous, small, ovate, acuminate, serrate or entire margins, slightly glossy, dark green above, brighter beneath; pubescence in vein corners, red and yellow autumn colour
Fruits
Ovate, grey-green drupes
Demands
No direct sunlight to light shade, young plants demand winter protection, pest resistant

Fresh, rich in humus, well-drained, slightly acidic
