Our Fraxinus

Ash tree is a large genus with about 65 species in the temperate areas of the northern hemisphere. Ash trees are among the highest deciduous trees in Europe. The native ones are Fraxinus excelsior, Fraxinus ornus, and Fraxinus angustifolia. Their wood is characterized by high strength and elasticity. Ash’s habitat is very large. They grow on fresh, moorish, and deep soils, but can also grow on shallow calcareous soils.
