Larix - Larch
Pinaceae
Our Larix
Larches grow almost everywhere in the world and are characterised by their
extreme frost hardiness. No other tree species penetrates further into
inhospitable areas - they occur up to the 72nd parallel. All Larix species sprout very early and show their fresh green needle tufts already at the beginning of April.
In autumn, they say goodbye with a spectacular, bright yellow autumn colour, which often does not set in until
the beginning of November. This makes larches one of the four conifer genera that shed their needles in winter.
