Impressive, initially columnar, gradually becoming more slender, conical large tree; 15-25 (30) m tall and 2-3 (5) m wide, always stiffly upright, extremely fast-growing, initially between 80-120 cm a year, later only 30-40 cm

Full sunlight, quickly thinning out in shade; likes warmth, takes well to heat in very humid areas, otherwise cool-humid areas preferred; usually frost hardy, not for extreme frost; wind resistant, sufficiently tolerant of urban climates

Moderately dry to moist, acidic to slightly alkaline; all well-drained substrates, also good on loam
